I am considering trucking and have found lots of great information on this site. I am planning on taking a community college training course this fall and already have my DOT medical certificate from my family doctor.

He (DR) prescribed Prozac for me a few years ago in connection with stress related abdominal pain (IBS) and it seems to help keep it under control so I am still taking it. No side effects that I know of and my doctor insists there should be no problem career wise.

Never-the-less, I understand that taking this drug is probably a negative, at least to some extent.

So, does anyone reading know of OTR drivers taking this drug and how their company handles it? Specifically, I am hoping to talk with Roehl, Transport America and Schneider so any specific experience with them (or any other "good" companies) would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I can't see Prozac being an issue.Although it's used mostly for depression it has been used for IBS and other illness relief.I took zoloft for a couple of years and never had a problem passing a DOT physical. Some companies will allow you to take a physical close to home before hiring on.Schneider is one. That way you don't waste time going out to training and find out that company policy forbides such use.Call them up and find out what policy they adhere to.FMCSA guidelines are the norm but company policy may differ mainly because of insurance.
