Where in Texas, and how much experience do you have?
-
San Antonio, and I have 21 years of experience

Ok, PSE no benefits the first year, when you are coming towards the end of your first year, you will be discharged, for 5 days, if they like you and you're a runner they bring you back. At that point you can buy health insurance from the union.
You will be micromanaged by stupid people who know nothing about transportation.
You will only get overtime for hours greater than 40 for the week.
You are not a career employee until you get turned over to be a regular.
Once you are a regular they just throw money at you...big bucks.
But me, i'm tired of the P.O. and will be retiring in April.jstrucker Thanks this. -
Thanks Tolson

On the other hand, having lived in San Antonio, that is a great place to run, as far a weather is concerned. We have PSE's in Chicago that haven't been turned over in 4 years...but the market is different here. I don't want to discourage you, it really is a good gig. work wise.

They told me at the interview that they are expecting a big turn over and one PSE just became a regular after 5 months this year. Too good to be true, but who knows... He told me to expect a call and less than a week because they are in great shortage here. I will wait for it, I believe is good opportunity.

Well in that case keep me updated on your experience JS, I think that being said it is a great opportunity for you, its not like you're a newbie. And for your info, don't call in sick or hit anything for the first 90 days. Be a good boy...The will dump you fast if they get bad vibes from you.
Good Luck to you,
Tomjstrucker Thanks this. -
Thank you Tom. I will keep you inform
Best regards,

Turning Career in Chicago has has much to do with added runs, and new business requiring trucks. There is a current rumor that the new contract, that is already late, will be eliminating PSE's and going back to PTF Career status. We have PSE's resign and it destabilizes mail flow. It is also tough Hiring CDL qualified drivers with the existing driver shortage. Also finding people who can pass the drug test has been an issue. We have called 10 people in for interviews and only 3 show up. If you look on LiteBlue, Ereassign they are hiring clerks, carriers nationally, we are just so short staffed...I think they realize The PSE model isn't really working. I hope they go back to the FLEXY model.
Thanks Juan for the good wishes on my retirement, actually we will be moving south with our RV and will probably take a regional driving job with WE off. Tired of the daily 8 trailer drop and hook.
I just love trucking!!!
