I know I'm going to get crap ton flaming and hate... so please link a thread or search term if this has been covered million times.
I'm in DFW TX area, have my Class A CDL, but never used it... I have M-F 8-5pm salary job (not in this industry) that I usually finish around 2pm.. so I got free time, need some extra money. I'd like to use my CDL, get some experience (have none) and make extra $$ ? Don't want to give up my current salary job. I have F150, 20' flat utility trailer, and F350 flatbed dually w/7.3.
Anyway I can use my CDL ... or should I just go to Papa Johns and try delivery pizzas? Thanks
PT Need Extra $500/mo.- possible?

The experience is whats going to hurt you the most, depending on the times you are wanting to work may also as well. I would just try contacting some local small companies.

Work for Uber would be less complicated. Set your own hours.

Another option, since you have a pickup truck is work for a courier service.dog-c Thanks this. -
Having the correct ins. to pull a load for $ is like having to pay for child care when you have a 2ed job at night will there be any $ after you pay for everything, a job driving in afternoon with a CO. could pay more in the long run?

Maybe try driving a yard dog for a local company in the afternoon or weekends

Well you might need a refresher course, but I'd also try just about ANY driver leasing agencies. Many times they need drivers for short term employment, and one that I get called from NEEDS part time drivers, at the hours WE need. I think it is named Centerline? They are Hq'd in CA I think? But are across the counrty.

Check out the carriers close by you. Only thing is you'll have to count all time worked at your salaried job as " on duty not driving " time . may lead to some available time issues. With your 8 to 5 M thru F job you'll only have 20 to maybe 30 hours available to work in a trucking job , depending on whether the carrier is a 6 day or a 7 day carrier....

I wondered if people actually made much money doing that uber job
