I turned in my PTL lease purchase truck in October. The Customer Service/Pre-Plan folks will give you screwed up delivery appointments and tell you that they are firm. 9 times out of 10, I would arrive at the consignee early and they would get me unloaded. O/Os at PTL still run paper logs and that helped a lot. Once you run 3k miles in a pay period, they WILL be auditing your logs so have your stuff together. They only reason I left was due to problems with the truck from Cure Leasing out of Norcross, GA. They gave me a 2010 ProStar Premium with 290k on the clock that Tuesday. It wouldn't pass the inspection at the Murray terminal. I took it to TriState International right down the road and they got the leaking steer airbag, u joints, and EGR cooler fixed and got the truck back to me on Friday. I rolled out of Murray on Saturday to pick up a load of paper in Wickliffe, Ky at NewPage (load wasn't ready and had to wait until Sunday @ 10am) going to Quad Graphics in Milwaukee. Before I crossed into MO, the entire instrument cluster, a/c, wipers, etc failed. I hit a bump in the road and everything came back on. I made it to Wisconsin that Sunday night, parked at the consignee and waited to unload the next AM. By then, all of the electrical system had died. I got the truck to Lakeside International that Monday morning. They found all kinds of electrical issues and got them fixed Wednesday. Got a load on QC picking up in Chicago at Kerry Foods going to PA. Got loaded and the same electrical issues popped up while backed into the dock...truck went to International of Chicago and stayed there until Saturday afternoon. They thought they had fixed the problem. Same issue occurred before I pulled out of the lot. Dealership was closing for Labor Day weekend and wouldn't reopen until the following Tuesday. I T-called my load and bobtailed home after a company driver met me to pick up the loaded trailer. All the while, insurance, truck payments etc. were still accruing and I wasn't rolling. I was done! A couple of the guys that I went through orientation with are still rolling as O/Os. One left and went to Foward Air. Another switched to a company driver position. The other 3 have gone on to other companies.

I don't have anything bad to say about any of the staff in Murray. They handled their biz. There are problems in every company and person. I just focus on getting my job done and getting my loads in on time. I'm back flat bedding now.

I know it blows but running the PSP, criminal, etc. for an applicant is $100.00 per person, and a lot of people after you tell them they are ok they find a way to talk themselves out of the application and you threw $100.00 to the garbage. That adds up and it blows as well when you get tons of "ahhhww no my girlfriend doesn't want to move there anymore" or "oh but your loads are going to be 40K and I'm afraid to haul that much" or " oh but I can't really start until November" or " Oh this dedicated will leave me right in my town every Friday but I hate my wife so I only want to be in town once a month" and every idiotic excuse in the world costs you $100.00 per person. Even more so, I imagine PTL has hundreds of positions every week so I can see why they wait instead of blowing thousands of dollars out the window.

My friends son has had it with them. He was in Murry a week or so ago. They told him to pick up a certain loaded trailer, sitting in their drop lot. Went there, no trailer. Called night dispatch, got a moron who said, "if it's not there, it's down the street". He asked where that is, do you have an address. The night guy cops an attitude, and says "No, I don't have an address, it's down the street, in the other lot." He asked again for an address, and the guy on the phone says "I'M TIRED OF YOUR %#&&%, GO FIND IT!" and hangs up.

The driver waits til morning, talks with his normal dispatcher, who tells him PTL only has one drop lot, the one he had been at. Turns out his loaded trailer, and 2 others couldn't be found, no one knew where they were.

It's Funny how PTL has 950 company trucks and only a few complain about this company??

It is funny how so many drivers complain about trucking companies. Witch most is newbies. As for the way I see it, there all the same. It depends on the best BS you can put up with to survive.
