You are better off leaving without working there because they suck. I went to work there in the beginning of November last year. I had been a trainer at Swift for 3 years and the wanted me to be a trainer at PTL. They would only start as high as .36 per mile though but they said you get .10 per mile more when training somebody so I figured that would a total of .46 which was good.

So I went through orientation and met the fleet manager and I was asking her questions and she introduced me to a driver of hers who had been there for a few years. I asked him what kind of miles he gets and he said average is about 2200. I said ok home on weekends right and he said no that is for a full week. He said that the fleet manager will work with you though he said he told her one time to give him lots of miles and he got 2800 miles 2 weeks in a row. Uhh 2800 is lots??? Uh average 2200 and out all week?? I asked the fleet manager if I am a hard runner what can I expect and she said about 2300-2400. I was like ok I have already went through 3 days of paperwork lets try it.

They said I would get a student after 2 weeks of driving. 1 week later they announce that the extra 10 cents for training is being stopped and they are putting 2 students straight out of school in a truck together since so many trainers quit training. I worked for 2 weeks and got a total of 4000 miles and said I am out of there. I lived 10 miles from Murray so I dropped the truck off on a load passing through. Worst company I have ever seen.

if they told the truth, they wouldn't be able to hire anybody.

If you live close to the terminal. Why not just go down there and talk to the drivers and check out the recruiters claims before even going to orientation?

Some company's I have worked at tried to screw me on accessories, but when I put everyones numbers on speed dial and budged them constantly, they sooner or later got the picture and payed what they owe up front.

The fact is that some drivers will give up on trying to get what extras are owed and it saves the company's money by delaying payments.

With the fair labor exemptions they enjoy as OTR carriers, they can cheat you whenever they feel like it, and laugh all the way to the bank unless you turn their work day into a living hell.
