Not making an argument but I find this very interesting being a Texas native since birth. Sure as crap it is written but with the exception of the M for motorcycle I’ve never heard this. There are 100’s of thousands of business’s in this state running non-cdl trucks with folks driving them with nothing more than the license they got for driving/ testing in a car in highschool drivers ed or a local driving academy somewhere as a teenager. The company I work for now included. People off the street hired by fed-ex and amazon as well.
The state could possibly shutdown commerce and make millions $$ in fines in one afternoon if they did drivers license raids on business’s like ICE for illegals.

N.Y. state requires both front and rear plates on power units.

15 yrs ago, got stopped by a Colo. State Trooper for the same violation, I was bobtail heading from Denver to Grand Junction, he stopped me for no rear plate. I asked how could we have a rear plate when Colo. only issues one plate. Trooper wrote me a warning, told my boss, he called his buddy that was a CSP Captain, I'm sure the young Trooper had to go back and reread the law books. As other mentioned, I would contact the Troopers office and speak to a Supervisor about it. If it shows up on your Data Q, I would fight it.

Actually, I think Washington state used to provide two plates, I seem to recall Gordon Transport had front/rear plates, maybe Interstate also.

Yes, I recall seeing two plates in Washington state and also New Jersey but I think New Jersey stopped that because of the scammers
