I would go with a 2 plug setup just in case anyone has to pull your trailer with their truck, or if you decide you want to pull other RVs or trailers with the 7 blade connector.

This sits under the catwalk above the left side fuel tank. I should be able to attach the trailer's cord up with the other pigtail so it doesn't get caught or rub anything.
Gumper Thanks this. -
@Gumper here is a link to the adaptor I mentioned earlier. Sounds like you have it covered, but just in case....

Even if you get the adapter, you're probably going to need to cut into the wiring somewhere to get the brake lights to work properly. I took our old pigtail and hooked up a 7 blade on the trailer side and it didn't work. The converter box takes the brake signal, marker lights, left and right turn signals, which allows them to all work together properly. The output on this box is what you would attach to left, right, and marker tabs on the receptacle.
You might be able to add separate stop lights and wiring on the trailer, but it will still only work properly with that trailer. -

I do know if you even win a Trophy. DOT will call it commercial. In there eye's, if its a race car. Or a pulling tractor, or even horses. If theirs anything like cash prizes or trophy's. They will call it commercial.
Also do you have stickers on the trailer? Say Snap-on or even your own race team name? If so DOT loves that also, and are sitting up to catch those.
DOT had gotten where at some tracks. There waiting for the trucks coming out after a race.
I just went through the whole deal. Of tagging a Kenworth T600, as a Motor Home. Hours of time at the Local DMV. Lots of cash adding what it took to the truck. Now the single axle KW with air ride 5th wheel. Is legal to pull our 41ft RV.
Retiring and going to travel. Got tired of a rough riding pickup. And was not going to spend $70,000. for a new 3500. So being I had the KW, it went from Commercial. To Motor home.
Was told straight up if caught pulling anything that was commercial. Tickets would be HIGH.
