Just about every trucking job down here pays peanuts compared to other locations. Been looking around a lot lately. It’s not uncommon to find CDL jobs that pay south of $20/hr. ($16 in some cases). It’s pathetic. And the cost of living out here nowhere near cheap either to balance it out. I’m just about ready to relocate outta this state completely.

The pay is low and you are in a crap area to start. Not to mention with the trade war and corona virus this has to be the absolute worst time to haul containers. If you were in longbeach, chicagoland, or atlanta you might have a shot. There is a port in jacksonville, start there.

I went from otr flatbedding to local container company driver before becoming an owner op. Im only doing it long enough to save up for a nice trailer.

Its not terrible work, the rates are low but there are good paying loads if you get with the right carrier. Do your research.

    KullenTrucking Thanks this.
