The Fuelmaster travel plaza in Cambridge City, Indiana has very good Indian cuisine
and a little bit of American grub too. I believe it used to be an old Amoco/Standard truck
stop way back in the day.

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

The Warren Travel Plaza (old Don's 76) in Warren, Indiana has a small Indian
cafe inside. Good Tikka masala and biryani. But it isn't the cleanest of places.

Hard to go very wrong with the food.

Any dish with Dahl as the first word is going to be based on lentils. It may also contain beans, like kidney. Dahl Makhani is quite good. Eat with Naan.

Korma is more like a cream sauce. Starts with yogurt, coconut milk and some type of stock. The spices will make the color. Usually a nice buttery yellow to a deep orang-red. Can be vegetables or meats.

Paneer is cheese. If you see this word, the dish will have cheese curds in it. It is a “fresh” cheese, in that it is not aged like cheddar. It is soft and does not melt. Very mild flavor.

Chana is chick peas, also known as Garbanzo beans. Used in a lot of dishes. Chana Masala is chick peas in a curry sauce.

Pakora is a battered and deep fried food. Various veggies. If your familiar with tempura, you have the idea, just a different batter.

Samosa, these can be deep fried or baked. Stuffed dough of vegetables like potatoes and onions. Some do have meat. There are a bunch of different ones. Bet you can’t eat just one!

Chicken and Lamb are the most common meats, goat is also used but hard to find. Southern regional dishes may have some fish/sea food. Also hard to find.

most of the things your going to find in these places are going to be predominantly vegetarian. The chicken and lamb are the next most common foods. The thing to watch out for is the heat. Some foods can be quite hot from the chili’s used in them.

I really like good Indian style foods.

Thanks for the lists, I've been wanting to get Indian food to eat while I'm out but haven't yet. Are there any other places you'd recommend trying? Or avoiding?

    bthomann Thanks this.

    Hey Bthomann,

How you doin ole friend? Isn't that Sunoco Truck Stop the one across the road from the Flying J? I used to stop there quite often way back in the day. It used to be a TA at one time I believe and had a real sit down restaurant. Parking area was small but more convenient than the large J and less busy. It also had a one bay shop out back too.

    bthomann Thanks this.
