My question is why did they do 2 rebuilds? That to me is a red flag. I don't care if it comes with a warranty.
If what you are saying is true that it had an oil pump problem that's a bad reason for a rebuild. If the engine was starved for oil that could have effed all kinds of things up.
And if that was not the reason, that could be a problem truck. That truck may have some kind of a problem nobody can figure out so they rebuilt the engine. It's not the 1st time something like that has happened. Check out the thread on truck 307 when you get a chance. Aside from all of the other problems this gentleman had, apparently that particular Caterpillar engine if I remember correctly is very common that they have a problem in the head and the valves. The amount of money that guy spent on that truck was staggering... And it was under warranty when he had it.
If you read that whole thread you may decide to make love to your International and make love to that series 60 and slip a wedding ring on it and never until death do you part. Everybody loves the big cat... But nobody loves the big bill that you can't even begin to imagine. Buying the truck is nothing, absolutely nothing compared to what it can cost you if you really start having problems. And check out what the price of a rebuild or a crate engine is. You may go make love to that series 60 all night and twice the next day.
Use your instincts. If you feel at all they're not being straight with you or there's any issue there where they're not being honest or straightforward, run like hell.
There are trucks for sale everywhere.

I can tell you what probably happened on 2 rebuilds, because I lived it. Junk parts. From any manufacturer, that they refuse to stand behind ... other than cat, at a cat certified house ... and that rebuild will cost 3x what an aftermarket kit and sane labor rate will run ya. But when you get burnt the first time, most people choose the warranty the second
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Not nearly enough info for me to decide. Specs look good on paper but it could be a total worn out, rat bagged hunk of trash when you see it up close and personal.
Coffey, rankd1 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -

Some sketchy cats there selling trucks. Be aware.
I'd have it taken to Toromont Cat and a dyno run, blowby, oil sample done before going any further. Might cost you a few hundred but well worth it.
With the dollar the way it is that's a pretty good deal for you but, ....sight unseen, not a chance.Vampire, JoeyJunk and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I doubt that’s the case here as I’m sure it’s been over atleast once, two inframes are also curiosity. I still can’t see paying 53k for a ~$20,000 worn out truck,JoeyJunk, ProfessionalNoticer, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
The owner apparently has hired this company (Progressive) to sell his truck. After requesting documentation the company says the owner was including documentation in the truck when delivered. Again troubling, I told them I needed to study the documentation before deciding to send money! Almost ready to stop wasting my energy on this one.Elroythekid and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
