i got the headache rack in the picture for my truck, one step closer to hauling flatbed.
looked at a few used flatbed trailers today as well, but everything that had a attractive price was not very attractive. saw some trailers for 6-7k looked like they went threw a hurricane had a building land on top of them and then left to sit under saltwater for about a year...lol
not sure that ill even purchase a trailer right now. if i spend 10k or less on a flatbed i could do it cash but would cut into what i have set aside for operating expense and unexpected expenses starting out. I am leaning a bit towards leasing a trailer at first.
i spoke with mercer transportation today and they had mentioned having not only a trailer rental program but a trailer lease purchase plan as well, something else i might look into.
purchased a headache rack today

the trailer purchase works well at mercer,, see the thread under trucking companies my life as a mercer flatbed driver
Ezrider_48501, DrtyDiesel and aiwiron Thank this. -
i am also thinking about possibility breaking down and going to a bank for a loan on a trailer. however so far everything has been cash money and trying to go into this debt free. however starting out with my own trailer does provide me a few more options as far as company's to go to work for.

Oh, how much that rack run for and where can I find? Sure I pull dry van but if that load comes through the nose I want something there to stop it or slow it down.

What kind of truck did you buy EZ?

I don't know all the ins and outs about Mercer's trailer lease deal, but be sure to completely understand everything you have to pay for. Last I checked, they leased you as trailer, but then also charged you for break wear, and tire wear. I am not talking about excessive wear, but normal, expected wear.
I would think that if the equipment was not abused or damaged, normal tire and brake wear would be included in the price of the lease. Be sure you ask questions, and never let them kick the can down the road with an answer of "I'll look into that for you" for any question. -

the truck i bought is a flat top freight liner fld 120 when i purchased it i had the intention of hauling tanker with it in the oil feild but things pretty much across the board are slow in the bakken right now. especially for a o/o truck which is why i have decided to haul flatbed.

you make a good point, I know crst includes maintenance in there flatbed rental, unsure of the exact details with mercer, when they called me. when they called me i was on my way out the door to go look at some trailers, and at the advertised price i thought i was going to be buying one, till i saw them of course. so i just checked if they rented trailers and did not go into any other details. -
That FLD is a great truck. You will not be disappointed !!!!
aiwiron Thanks this.
