Well first you need to figure out what part of the country you are planning to run the most in, what kind of trailers you plan to pull, what your main types and weights of loads are yada, and spec accordlingly. At my age you could not run fast enough to give me a new truck with the emission junk they have nowadays, IF I had to keep it on the road for 2 years. Also at my age, I will not be driving, unless local anything that required an eld, just not a program I am interested in. If I was 20 years younger, I might have a different outlook.
Lots of good used trucks around, just finding one speced close to what you need and well maintained, it is easy enough to buy someones elses headache, and money pit.
I do know a real particular guy that has a low mile very sweet pete (real low miles on cat inframe) 625 cat 18spd, super 40 full locking rears, iirc 285 wheelbase, American class or what ever their fancy interior is,rigged out nice and super nice 3 axle aluminum step.
He just got fed up and parked it 3 or 4 years ago, the day he parked it he put all new drives and shocks on it, then something went haywire with the outfit he was going to lease on to, so he just retired. He mentioned the other day he is thinking about selling.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
