Purchasing your own crude oil tanker

I'm looking to possibly purchase a 407 200B crude oil tanker. Right now the market seems tight and I may be buying at a top here. I've heard if you want to buy new, delivery may be months out. I've looked at the used inventory and I'm seeing a lot of tankers which look picked over.

So my question, are there any tips or suggestions to buying a used tanker? Also are there any brands I should avoid or favor??

    Thanks!

Dragons are everywhere and seem to hold up.
I pulled a Tytle that was cracked everywhere and started leaking. I'm pulling a 250bbl Entyre right now that is a Cadillac. I also like Troxell and would buy one if I could.

I spoke with a mechanic today, he said he really likes Heil and Dragons are OK. Also said he would avoid a Polar. He is looking to purchase a trailer too and mentioned he hasn't seen anything under $50K he would take a chance on.

I've seen a dealer online selling several Dragons which were previously owned by Coastal Plains. But I'm not interested in buying anything that ran out in West TX and I know Coastal does a lot of work out there.

I wouldn't buy anything run out west. That's where I'm hauling crude at now. Everything takes a beating out here. We have a few Polar trailers on the yard. I don't like the way they are set up.
I consider ergonomics and easy of use as well as durability.
Boots on ground loading and unloading is the only place you can save time when hauling crude.
A well designed trailer with a good pump can get you an extra load at the end of the day if you hustle.

So which trailer is your favorite as far as best setup and durability goes?

I'd have to say Troxell. A 220bbl would let you haul just a bit more and make a few extra $.
I saw a triple axle 250bbl go for $18600 at auction. I'd have bought it if I had the cash.

    That's what I'm pulling now. It's a triple axle 250bbl.
It a Cadillac for sure, but not as ergonomic as I would like.
I prefer open trays to tubes with lids for hose storage.
I can deploy my hoses much faster with open trays for storage.
