Western will build a curtain van with load bearing sides. The sides roll up instead of front/back and there are straps that you run through winches to hold the bottom. Anything less than that isn’t load bearing and probably shouldn’t be treated as such.

With bungee rope, the way all trailers should be setup.

 

Do you like the hollow core or the solid rubber rope?

 

I use 3/8” shock cord or bungee rope. I e tried the regular rubber rope before and didn’t like it. It was way to “grippy” and wanted to grab the d rings as it was pulled tight. It starts out white.
