Just saw a ad on craigslist today, Pride is looking for Pa drivers

I know they hired in a small portion of central Pa before but ad was in Pittsburgh so you might be in luck if really intrested.

I'd just like to take a moment to add my 2 cents about Pride. I've worked there for 2 years now, and I have YET to have that "bad day" My Fleet Manager is amazing, the support staff is second to none. I've yet to have a problem that I did not get resolved in a professional amount of time with nearly always a positive outcome on my behalf (even a time or two at a loss to the company).

I'm currently in my second brand new truck since hiring on with the company, Still no apu's though. I wish we had them, but considering everything i DO get i'm not going to whine. I honestly don't have a legitimate complaint... sure sometimes I get my ego bruised a little, and I brood about it... i.e. I don't get the load I want, when I want.... etc. but that's far from a legitimate complaint I think...

Just to answer a few questions that i've saw from reading the thread. Rider policy is 30 days for $30. Pet policy is 1 dog, and i'm not sure about a deposit. NO APU's, Yes Pride now hires recent grad students, and most of the trainers I know are very well qualified.

oh, and the trips and milages the other dude was listing are quite accurate, you will not sit if you don't want to. I make a very very good living with this company. "Too good to be true" .... nah, Just very professional, Very mature. If you are one of those guys who like to sit around and complain and whine, "then I told my dispatcher that I SAID NO... and he was like... OMG YOUR SO COOL YOU ARE RIGHT" .... Pride may not be for you. But for me... well... there is no other company. I love it.

I would be surprised if they do out of Pittsburgh. The hiring map doesn't show it. They're usually pretty strict to only hiring nearby to their bigger and more consistent customers.

I've ran through there a lot but never picked up or delivered anything on the western side of the state or heard of many others doing it except Bedford if that is even considered western PA. Harrisburg is pretty much the furthest west that the majority of our stops are located in PA.

The large majority of our fleet are 2010-2012 Cascadias, a few 2011(I think?) Pete 387s and a handful of Prostars no older than 2010. The trucks are governed at 65. Plenty of So Cal freight as well.

I know you have already gone to orientation or were supposed to before I posted this but I figured someone might find it useful in the future.

I can't really comment on the miles as I've been back and forth between OTR team, dedicated team and local.

Your proably right, i just saw fancypants post and few days later saw that ad for drivers in Pittsburgh. Thought maybe they were expanding their hiring area. But i agree with you thats a good thing that they keep there hiring area small.

Talk to some of yours drivers over the years and never heard a complant, i think there a decent outfit.

They do not have APU's and the idle policy is 30% summer and 20% the rest of the year.

When my teaming partner was solo he was constantly in the 50-60% range during the summer on idle and was never talked to about it. I've never heard a single person say that the company complained about their idle.

I've always been told they'd rather have us idle than not sleep. Even with 50% idle you can still reach the 6.9 mpg goal they set for the fuel bonus or be very close.

I was talking to them today and they told me there trainers get .35 per mile and run as a team after two weeks with a student. If this is true and I generally don't buy what anyone is selling me, means 5000x.35= $1750.00 gross. THAT IS GOOD MONEY! Can anyone shed some light for me?
