Probably more a matter of personal politics of the directors/owner/etc. of the business, or maybe even something their insurance requires. A sign isn't really much of a deterrent for anything.

Sometimes people think its ok to place their problems on some one who is just there doing a job. Typical douche bag people.

I too been driver for long time, seen many place's, most times i just go in with my best smirk smile and then just sit there wacthing them , then a driver get mad , guess he bumped him from 2 nd to last and i was sitting there hold ing my number 5 card, he looks at me your next , i just hold hold up my card grads its and says put it door 23 , but now my job turned 180 degrees, , and now im on the other side of dock and im in a air cond warehouse, but the drivers still want too be unloaded quik so they get too the truckstop and by 3 if posibly or they dont have a parking spot or go inside a play on there fav game machine all afternoon,, i do my best, i can unload a whole trl , depending wat it is in about 3 hours , and then we have too make sure its everything on the po we order , thats is why its takes so long, as a driver , you should have already checked that out, you just cant go too the dock and drop or unload and go, if theres something wroung we have too let everyone know, going right down too the driver who deliverd it,thats why its takes so long,:biggrin_25525:

I've never been a shipper or receiver... but I've seen truck drivers freak out, threaten, cuss, push them and damage property... not making excuses at all, but if half the people they encounter each day are loser morons, I can understand some of their behavior.

I've always had fun trying to cheer people up - mostly because it benefits me when I can make them laugh or smile and get out of their dock faster.

The level of professionalism displayed by a company's employees is a decent indicator of the quality of the company. There are exceptions, of course, but by and large this is a good rule of thumb.

Just remember some of these workers are probably making crappy pay in a job they hate. Could be having a bad day, etc.

I never really had a problem with drivers but we got our shipments on flatbed and the driver helped unload, and I usually got the same drivers so we kinda knew each other.

What really annoyed me was drivers showing up after business hours. Here's the deal with my co. When the shipper notifies us a load is coming we tell them to have the driver call a day in advance so we have people available to unload. The large flatbeds cannot get to where our business is so we have to meet them at a local yard and transfer the load (granite headstones) from their truck to our small 1 ton flatbed. We only have 3 workers including myself and they are available from 9-5.

Last week we had a load of granite arrive by suprise. The workers were in another cemetery with the flatbed hooked to the trailer mowing. So we had to stop mowing, unhook the trailer, go to the yard to unload only to find the shipper had loaded our granite on the front of the trailer behind a bunch of other granite and we had told them we unload by hand (no crane). It was 6pm at this time and we couldn't get equipment over there to sling the granite off until the next day. The driver was pissed. But it comes down to someone not doing their job. The shipper knows how we unload, they know we don't have a crane there, knows to call a day in advance of delivery. Had we known when the shipment was coming, and how it was loaded we would have been prepared to unload it promptly. Instead you have a pi$$ed off driver, and a company that had half a day wasted and is not happy either.

Well, work the system. As soon as you hit the gate enter your arrived to deliver macro.

Then take all the time you want to back, all in the name of safety, of course.

If the lot is full of cars and ballards and trailers, back 4 feet, pop the brakes G.O.A.L

another 4 feet and get out again.

then after three hours of that, (or whatever your company regs are) put in for detention pay! Hehehehheee
