Regarding Operational Practices, Safety Violations, and Unpaid Wages
My initial experience was negative. After successfully passing all required tests, my start date was significantly delayed due to five or six inconsistent requests for meetings to receive a truck assignment. After I declined further interest due to these delays, contact was resumed, and we reached an agreement. However, the truck provided the very next day arrived in an unacceptable condition: it was filthy throughout, containing dirt and soiled clothing. I was required to purchase cleaning supplies and clean it myself before use.
Assigned a load from Hutchins, Texas, to Spring Hill, Tennessee, I discovered the truck lacked valid insurance. Repeated requests for proof of insurance during the trip went unanswered. Due to this critical safety and legal deficiency, I was forced to shut down for the night halfway to Tennessee.
While shut down, I received a message from Charles, identified as a co-owner and dispatcher, instructing me to drive for seven hours before completing a federally mandated rest period (full reset). When I stated this directive was illegal, he replied, "No worries, I'll fix your clock." This proposed falsification of records did not occur.
Upon arrival at the Spring Hill delivery facility, I was denied entry because both the truck and trailer lacked valid insurance and registration. After approximately an hour's delay, I received trailer insurance documentation that appeared suspiciously generated on the spot. This seemingly falsified document allowed facility entry.
After unloading, I was instructed to drop the trailer. The trailer's kingpin malfunctioned, preventing its release. When I reported this critical equipment failure, the only response provided was to "ask someone for help." This was unprofessional and left me feeling unsupported and embarrassed.
Despite these significant issues, I was immediately assigned another load picking up at the same Spring Hill facility for a 10 AM delivery the next day in Arlington, Texas – a schedule that was mathematically impossible to fulfill legally and safely. I loaded at four AM and drove ten and a half hours to deliver to Arlington.
Upon returning to Texas, I expressed my profound concerns and frustrations regarding the company's operational practices, safety violations, and unprofessionalism. I was instructed to return the truck to the yard, assured the load would be delivered the next morning, and promised payment afterward. I complied professionally: I returned the truck cleaned, surrendered the fuel card, and completed all handover requirements respectfully. The load was subsequently delivered as arranged.
It has now been five days since that delivery. Despite repeated attempts to contact the company my calls have been ignored and rejected. I have not received any payment whatsoever for my work.
This sequence of events demonstrates a pattern of unprofessionalism, disregard for safety regulations, and failure to meet basic operational standards. Most critically, I have performed the work requested and fulfilled my obligations, yet I remain unpaid.

Was this a 1099 or a W2 company?

Also, never,EVER run a CMV (or any vehicle for that matter) without checking to see if the registration and proof of insurance is valid-that is part of a pre-trip inspection, and many a driver has been shutdown (and fined/arrested) for less!
snowlauncher, IH Truck Guy, Tb0n3 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Sorry, I stopped reading when after you agreed to clean a truck for free and failed to do a proper pre-trip. You should never even turned the key on an uninsured piece of equipment. Your problems are self inflicted. These dirtbags saw you coming a mile away.

This right here was enough to just turn around and go back home. Any further dealings with them makes you a volunteer for the abuse. You saw it coming.FearTheCorn and Opus Thank this. -
The number of red flags ignored before even getting the filthy truck is astounding.
