Hello,
This forum seemed the best area to ask this question...When you are driving, what interaction is possible with QUALCOMM units or other similar terminals? Can you receive a message, and see who it is from? Can you change your duty status? Enter mileage while crossing boarders?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

I don't think you can do anything while your in motion. Ive only had one truck that had Qualcomm an it was a while back.
-
when you parked/not moving you can change duty stauts, read and reply to messages. when you are in motion you cant do anything
-
Some qual comms have a feature that will read messages over audio while you are driving, but it is really difficult to understand.
-
Anymore about the only fleet trucks that allow interaction with Qualcomm (or other in-cab communication terminal), while moving, are team trucks.
-
I can listen to my messages over the speaker while I'm moving but its enough of a distraction just trying to get it to work half the time. Besides, you cant understand it or bare to listen to that annoying voice longer than 5 seconds.
-
With our qual comm, we can read messages while the truck is moving and change co-driver duty status as well. We haven't tried to reply to messages while moving though.

I probably have the cheapest of qualcom versions. No physical keyboard and very slow processor.
I can see that new messages have arrived, three different color notifications. Red is important, yellow not so much, blue is fluff stuff.
I can listen to all received messages while rolling. It takes a while to learn to understand the voice pattern. It does not know how to pause between info fields.
If it were to speak my name and "end of message" it would sound like, "MikeEnd of message."
