We are going to be starting to use Qualcomm MCP200 ( I think that's the right model number) to switch from paper logs to e-logs soon. My training didn't cover how to log a day off after the fact. I'm not OTR, but daily dedicated driver. So I will get off work on one day, having done my logs for each day until the end of that day. Then I will get out of truck, clock out and go home for 1-2 days, sometimes 1-2 weeks.
When I get back in truck for the next workday, what do I do to put those day(s) past into the el-log? Should I put that day(s) off into the E-log before I start my current workday log or start my current day E-log and create those E-log entries for previous days as part of my initial ODND activities for the current day? Assume all days are within the same month, if that makes a difference. My company won't let me use 1 paper log page to include days from different months, i.e. Aug. 25-31, 2015 Off Duty Mayberry, NC & Sept 1-3, 2015 Off Duty Mayberry, NC.
Qualcomm E-Logs, logging day off?

do a post trip, then go off duty @ svc center and log out before more than one day off.
-
You will go to line 1, off-duty before logging out of the truck and your e-log will stay on line 1 automatically until you log back in and change your status, nothing has to be done except click ok to certify they are true and accurate when prompted to.

yeah what I said..lol

OK, thanks Brian & Trooper. DUH! Sorry I didn't even think of that.
These kids with their fancy pushbutton telephones and their color TVs, it's like a whole 'nother world.

I don't even bother with whole line thing with qualcomm just my clocks. With Averitt the only line I care about is our Line 5 where we can unhook and bobtail 45 driving minutes while waiting on a shipper or after the 11 is up etc.

As others have mentioned, just log off duty and leave.
One more detail. Update your load tab, and update the load history.
Then go to approve tab and approve. It will send all the off days, and you can go on duty for your pre trip. -
Also just remembered before logging out be sure to approve logs.
-
Make certain to LOG OUT of the system completely, not just log onto the top line. If, while you're off the garage or another driver uses your truck for a minute to grab a trailer in a nearby lot and gets above 20-25mph it will throw YOU to ON DUTY and screw up your break.
Driving time can't be edited for mistakes as ON DUTY can often times.
