Just wondering how many outfits are running with these.
Regardless of the above, most Qualcomm's will let you send email to friends/family? Correct?

    Thanks!

Schneider has WiFi in our new MCP200 units, but you can only use it at Schneider facilities that are set up for it...you can't just use it anywhere. But it's convenient when you don't want to bring out your laptop.

    It's NOT wifi!
    It's email.
Email has been an option with Qualcomm since the beginning IF the company had it activated.
WIFI (Wireless Fidelity) is a wireless way to connect a device to the internet and does not apply to the email service on QC. When I tried it years ago it took forever for an email to go from the truck to the servers at QC then onto the internet to the recipient! Then if they were waiting at the computer for the email to come in it them had to go back and I sat as long as 17 minutes for a round trip when they were waiting for it to come in!

Ask how much you might be charged for the service as some will charge you for the "convenience" of being "connected!"

    bikegoon Thanks this.

I am going with the Verizon 4g USB modem, connect anywhere I can hit 4g-3g with decent speed. If not it steps down, but still not shabby. I looked up truck stops with WiFi.......Owwie. Per Verizon its about $50.00 a month (5gb) and $10.00 per month for ever 1gb I go over. Will give it a try.

    Thanks all.

I remember when it could take days to get a connection in to one of the freenet servers since no one could actually afford a personal dialup account to the real web.

MCP200 has wifi but I don't use it. I have a laptop and that is all I need if I want to surf the internet....
