Yes it does harm starters on anything, however they do make blankets, or you can fab a heat shield.

Just came out under the truck. Strong wind is today in LA. My face is dirty and eyes are full of dirt and sand...
Just installed that mitsubishi starter on DD15. I would say it was easier than instalation of 39mt. The rear nut can be removed from top.
