Who is your insurance through? That's crazy! I was quoted brand new at $6000 for a year... 1,000,000 liability and 750,000 cargo... I upped the cargo to 750,000 from the normal 500,000. Not sure what it's supposed to be but it sounded right.

I run that exact lane daily with 5 10 car trucks and 1 4 car flatbed. If you can stay loaded round trip with tolls and fuel, proper insurance and all that goes with it. You might make a couple hundred a day. A commercial vehicle towing a trailer of more than 10,000 lbs according to NY and CT requires a class a license. Good luck.

I second Terry's thoughts, you got a really low quote at $6k, heck my brother who had 12 years in car haul before taking a county job for 6 years paid $12,000 for his pickup/wedge last year when he reactivated his authority and is paying $18k this year for his tractor/6 car trailer, and he has a spotless record for those 12 prior years and no losses last year with the pickup.Terry270 Thanks this. -
We just got our renewal today. $74,000 for 5 10 car trucks 1 4 car rollback. 3,000,000 total liability and 600,000 cargo. I'm happy with that.

We usually have a couple loads at the Meca every Monday and Tuesday. Besides that it been busy as hell. Need another driver like usual. But that being said I have a great insurance guy and only about 1.9% increase this year. I'm happy as hell. How's things going there??

BTW, Chuck is a great insurance guy even though we were able to beat his quote I will check with him again at renewal time. The only insurance I am having a real hard time swallowing is our worker comp, PA wants 14% on interstate truckers, my friends with tow trucks and repair shops only pay 7% and they are working in live traffic! Go figure. -
Our workers comp is $17.34 per hundred now. Soon going to almost $24.00 per hundred. They say it's all trucking is going up
