Trucker Matt, what is the specs on your argosy?.. I really like the Argosy. I do truck parttime and looking to possible get my own truck. and looking for argosy. I am almost debating on seeing how much a new glider is and putting a pre egr series 60 in it...might even make it a single drive with a lifting tag..for more mpg...what roof does yours have?.. i think you can stand up in teh midrooff ones too?..the flat floor is real nice. I like the room of the raised roof but the idea of low bridges on some of the back routes i run might bother me..used to a day cab tractor and can fit under a lot lol
Thanks,

I just ran into a tanker driver last week running a 1985 Pete COE with a nice 280" WB and pulling a tanker. he said on a bad day he gets about 5.5mpg and on a good day he can see 7's !!!!

I run two Kenworth K100s, a 1979 big bunk flattop and a 1984 Aerodyne.
Both have cummins Big Cams in them, one has 4.10 gears the other has 3.73, both have 13 speeds.
I can get 5 mpg all day long loaded heavy. I can get 5.7 when I'm not loaded too heavy, and that's keeping the speed (except when going downhill) at 62 mph or below.
Personally, the Aerodyne is more comfortable than the flattop - you can stand up behind the driver or passenger seats. If you're by yourself and not team driving, you can secure the upper bunk in the upright and locked position, and it's like being in your own little condo.
I love cabovers, but you have to get creative cross-referencing parts - my local Kenworth dealer has been helpful - and I try to do most of my own work, since I know the trucks as well as/if not better than most shops.1958Pete Thanks this. -
I get between 5.7 -6.4 with mine. 96 Freightliner FLB, 4.1 rears, 13spd, 3406e 435, pull gas lank locally.

I'll let some of you in on a little secret.............bad fuel mileage isn't why most people don't want a COE
Today an O/O running OTR in a cabover (even if it got 9mpg) is like marrying one of these woman because they're rich.
After a while you realize they're horrible and not worth it.Like a Ford Model T, the cabover is great as a toy or a restoration project but I don't think guys are lining up to do a 2000 mile road trip in either.
Google did help me find the engineer that designed those horrible European cabovers.
These were designed by this guy!

I must admit I am shallow when it comes to some things.
Trucks , no way.
Its how they work that counts.
A bit like when I need surgery.
I don't care what the surgeon looks like or how much jewelry he wears.
The quality of his work makes my mind up. -
i'd run that purple one,looks baaaad ###
