Deo, I now have 2 argosy cabovers. Both are 2000's and one is cat c12 super 10 trans and 3.70 rears. It has a full condo sleeper with cab extenders and side skirts. This is a 7mpg truck but only pulls empty soda bottles. Loads weigh less than 9k. But the 2nd argosy is condo sleeper also but no cab extenders, pre egr isx 485hp cummins with 13sp trans and 3.70 rears. Having full out of frame rebuild done at this time so have not worked with it yet. Also i already am waiting for price quote on argosy glider with full condo and lift axle from factory. I will put a reman 12.7 detroit in it. Also have 1993 freightliner flb cabover that does the same work and has 3406c cat 350hp with 9spd and 3.90 rears and it gets 6.7mpg.

Update on my argosy. I have now made it a single axle and the motor is starting to really seat in. I have also slowed my speed down to 55mph on the cruise control. By doing this i am now getting 8.5mpg and i got 8.9mpg on my last fuel up. This is by far the best truck i have ever owned.

Single drives are so much better on fuel.
At 8,5mpg there is still money to be made. -
The West-European drivers aren't out for long periods but the East-Europeans are gone from 3 to 9 weeks. And most off those don't get the biggest cabs because their bosses are to greedy to spend money on their drivers.(this is the general rule)
As to the bed,it is in most cabs a comforteble 1 person bed(90cm=35.4 inch)
Everyone must decide for themselves if this is enough room.
As to the fuelmilage, anything below 8mpg,the truck would go to a workshop,to look what was wrong with it.(except if it was a truck that ran in the mountains constantly)
I run regional, grossing 96000lbs,the gap between cab and load is huge as i pull 20 or 30 foot containers.
Truck is between 9 mpg and 9.4mpg(depends on wheather)
Single screw truck , 3 axles trailer. -
1988 frieghtliner cabover 3406b, 4.10, 13speed, pulling coils and flat steel,IF I keep my foot out of it, overhauled, average 5.3mpg and yes sucks putting clothes on laying down.

I used to Run the northeast region for USA truck, and they always got on me about my fuel mileage. But I was doing all i could to get the best mileage.
I think running the northeast uses more fuel compared to driving out on the plains. Most of the east coast is rolling hills. And I would get into WV and PA a lot.
not to mention the increased traffic. that KILLS your mileage.
I bet the average northeast regional driver uses more fuel than a national driver.
