Hi, I apologize if this has been asked before, I tried searching but couldn't find an answer to the question I have. What sections of the CDL manual do I need to study for my CLP in Minnesota? Will there be Hazmat or Air Brake questions on the CLP knowledge test? Appreciate you taking the time to help me out, Nate EDIT: I apologize if this is the wrong section for this question. If it is, where should I have posted it? Thanks

Hazmat is it's own test as is the airbrakes written for the both of them. Same with Tankers, Doubles and.... what else? We'll see Good luck to you. Study the question, look up the related parts of the question with videos etc. It is harder for a newbie who has never touched a big rig to understand the test and so forth.
Thank you Chinatown! Based on the practice test I've taken, it seems the CLP exam is only based on the general knowledge portion of the CDL manual. If anyone can confirm this, I'd appreciate it! EDIT: Posted at the same time as x1Heavy. Thanks for the response, that clears up my question!
If you plan on getting a class A cdl and driving a tractor trailer you will need general knowledge, combination vehicle and air brakes. There are practice tests here on TTR at the top of the page.
And you will want a school that can send a Manual to the test DMV day so you do not get stabbed with a Auto only restriction. To understand and shift manuals will prepare you for the future where push button transmissions has strengths and weaknesses. When you seriously learn to understand why we shift them the way we do, you will be that much forward in understanding.
Thank you both very much, I really appreciate it. DMV Genie has been a huge asset so far! These practice tests are serious game changers. I'm gonna be doing my CDL training with Magnum LTD and I believe I will be doing my test in a manual transmission. Very excited.
They started a program last year I believe. It's mostly meant for their line-haul guys, but they also train OTR drivers there! There just isn't any paid housing.
