It is more than just traffic lights. Any type of warning light needs to be seen, such as at a railroad crossing, etc.

You are shaded color blind. Like me. It will not effect your CDL. Only pilots and electrical techs. You can actually see better the normal colored vision people. In white outs/flat light. Also camouflage doesn't work as well, natural or artificial.

I would assume you couldn't drive if you totally fail the color test. Like if you have to use a needle for injections if you have diabetes. I understand that is a fail.

Thank okie. I just don't want to pay $4000 for a training school and not get it back because I fail because of this and yes I wouldn't get a refund I already asked.

All lights are the same. Red, yellow and green. If a rail road crossing is blinking...well....DUH. Same with a blinking top light you stop. Blinking middle light, proceed with caution. There's a ton of people who are color blind and drive.

all lights AREN'T set up the same. like mentioned above. some are horizontal. and some have 5 lights. if your not familiar with them. you could be screwed.

also, can you see the port signs that flash them yellow lights?????? when they're open.

what about states like idaho and washington, that use red and green OPEN and CLOSED letters. or some other states what are white.
i know the dmv does color tests. i don't recall ever having to do color tests on medical cards.

yeah I am not worry about actual driving because of the color blindness it is just passing the physical for the DMV and con-way. We all know how bureaucracy works.

That won't be a problem, I'm red/green colorblind also. It's hard to tell the difference between yellow and green if they are really close together. The spacing used in signals is more than enough to separate them.

Here's the deal. You can sort of cheat on the color blind test. Go online and take one. You can see things others don't. It's obvious. You can tell what your NOT suppose to see. Just don't tell them you see the hidden symbols/numbers. I've been color blind my entire life and have never had a problem with signs or lights. It is so engrained after years of driving. Ok so my wife says I dress funny.:biggrin_25520:

yeah, but when the signs are horizontal, and there's 5 to boot. how do you know which side is red or green.

if i were color blind, and i saw those things for the first time. i'd be sitting there trying to figure out W T F. not that i didn't say W T F anyways, the first time i saw those things.

obviously, yellow is the middle. but is there a law that say which color goes on what side. and if there is, how many people would actually know it.
