Sorry I have been lax in keeping this thread updated.
Update: Last update I posted my son was supposed to start with Melton in Tulsa on June 24. Couple days before that his recruiter called him and told him that he had to have a 1-year expiration date on his medical card before he could start. His card was still at 90 days so he did not get to start with Melton. He had been on his cpap machine for about a week and a half at that time and it has to be a 30 day report. So he is still not able to start truck driving yet....
On July 11th he got his 30 day report from the cpap company and he setup his appointment with the DOT medical people again and they scheduled him for today (July 22nd). He just got out of that appointment and the DOT medical examiner told him he had to be at 70% compliance on his 30 day report before they could set a 1 year expiration and he was at 67%. So because of that they renewed his medical card for another 90 days. Melton requires a 1 year expiration so another 90 days of no trucking... JFC
His compliance is 67% because his mask is coming off in the night while he sleeps, typically after an hour or two. He's a stomach sleeper and rolls around allot. Now that he knows what to look for and how to read the report he is going to get reports every week (at $15 each) so he can try some things to keep his mask from coming off.
This is all very aggravating. No wonder there is a shortage of truck drivers in America.

Do all the mega carriers require a one year medical card for cpap users? My son really wants to do flatbead with Melton but if he keeps getting the run around over this one year expiration card thing, do you all think he would get the same thing at other mega carriers (not just flatbed)? Asking cause while he does want to work for melton he is quickly getting tired of the struggle to pay his bills in his current crappy job.

You can also get free sleep report from the ResMed app on phone. It shows 30 90 and 365 days report and don’t have to pay $15. It also gives you a little report every morning. If taking nap during the day any extra time you can get on the cpap will bring the complaint numbers up. If he watches tv before going to sleep anything will add up pretty quickly.

Final Update: My son finally got his one year expiration DOT medical card now (has been 5 months since he graduated CDL school) and he attempted to contact his recruiter at Melton to let them know he got it and could now go to work for them! Come to find out his recruiter no longer works there and he was told to reapply which he did (that was last week). Today Melton let him know that because he has the "Automatic Only" restriction on his CDL and is 20 pounds over their weight limit (he is 320 and the limit is 300) they are not hiring him. Both of those were there on his first application so not sure why the run around. He says he's done trying to get on there and is now job hunting for other companies that are willing to get him out on the road making money. Wish us luck and thanks everyone who offered assistance.
