I am color blind, can I pass the DOT exam an get a CDL?
Because when i read the booklet it vary from state to state. TX said no color blind allow, while AZ, MO not even mention about no colorblind.
so if i am color blind I can go take the CDL exam in AZ or MO right?

the dot physical i did , was stand in a walkway and read a board with letters , nothing about different colors. now the dol they do the color test as far as i know

is it vary state by state? because the TX handbook said absolute no color blind. But the one in CA said as long as I can distangish between red, green, yellow then i am ok.
Now I am worry, because I dont want to travel to TX and not pass the color vision exam and got send back home with no job.
Which state did u take the exam at? -
Last guy I spoke to in TX, there is no test for color blindness, just the regular eye chart. BUT, if you are in an accident and you witheld the condition while knowing the DOT rules you may be in trouble.

Had my DOT physical in San Antonio, TX this past Wednesday and, yes, part of the vision exam is being able to distinguish red-yellow-green. You will be tested for color blindness in Texas.

Same here, they didn't ask about the blue or other colors on the chart though.

It does not matter by state. The states may mention it in their books.

There is NO color test in NH. The eye chart is the only vision test.

I have had a DOT physical in WA, OR and TX and each time I was required to distinguish between red, yellow and green along with eye chart.

Don't be surprised that if/when you get hired on by a carrier that they will indeed do another DOT physical and they will most certainly want to know that information. They will probably disqualify you based on that fact alone. Unfortunately, I can't say that I blame them. No offense to you, not your fault, but in the interest of public safety I actually would have to agree with them.
