Hi all, I've been working with Driver solutions and set to go to school on Sep. 28th.. Now of course i've read good and bad about this company. I guess my question is, do they really get you a guaranteed job out of school? I've read where they guaranteed other people jobs out of school and then came back and said something changed and now they no longer have a need for them. I've also read where people are sitting for 2 and 3 weeks after school waiting on a trainer. I'm sure there are some situations where this happens, but is this the norm for this place? Also, are there any other reputable company sponsored training places to look into? It can even be some place that I need to try to get a loan for, but my wife and I filed bankruptcy about 5 years ago, so I seriously doubt we can go that route. Although, any other options I may have I'm open to as well. I really don't want to get kicked in the face with this decision. Thanks alot guys for any advice!
question about driver solutions or other company sponsored training schools..

They CANNOT legally guarantee you a job - and I've been sitting for 11 days since graduating back on the 19th.
All I know is that they better not bug me about the cost of the training ($5995) despite all the legalese in the "agreement".
I'm willing to work my ### off for the one year to pay it back...they just have to provide the work. -

Well I "called in"again this afternoon and still no word on when I can link up with a DT. I'm seriously starting to wonder if I may have made the wrong choice - or got linked up with the wrong company.
-
Vito,
Where did you train? I understand they now work with a few different school, they used to send everyone to C1. -
Now I'm just calling in daily awaiting a DT assignment. -
My Finisher went to C1 About 10 years ago, and thought he got good education. I think he said he did go to orientation at Tonntitown, but ended up a week later at TMC.....but again that was 10+ years ago
-
edit: Which company did they link you with? -
If not, then I'll have to seriously consider looking at other companies who may be willing to give a new "boot" a chance...or go back into nursing.
I'm sure there'll be some sort of "legal action" taken for getting outta the contract that I signed - but those folks don't have creditors calling 6-8 times daily looking for money I don't have and can't get sitting on my rump waiting for a DT/orientation.
In the military, it was always about HUAW (Hurry Up And Wait). I'm kinda getting tired of waiting. -
Well lo and behold...the person designated as my DT called me at noon CST. Said he was on his way up to Michigan to make a run down to Martin, TN...about 90 miles west of me.
Said he'd call me back after the pickup after getting routing instructions. I called the company Student Liaison for confirmation, but again got nothing but the voicemail - so I left the message to call me back ASAP to confirm all this.
I'm both pumped up and apprehensive at the same time...and they're late getting me my unemployment check so am going nearly empty-handed.
I've had failed battleplans come off better tha this.
