Have about 1-2 years on and off driving experience, but now doing online college for accounting, but thinking about returning to industry until I graduate.

With that said I'ma be a little picky with what niche I wanna work, or just not do it at all. And I think working for someone contracted to FedEx would be exactly it.

Basically, I want to do a dedicated run where I go to the same 2 places each week, and have the weekend at home. I don't want anymore not knowing what's next that OTR brings. And also a few days a week out the truck to focus on classes. FedEx seems like they have so many distros all-over, I could have steady work doing this with their freight.

Perfect for me would be to take a load from Charlotte or Columbia SC to a east Texas city, and back. That should be Monday- Wednesday there, Wednesday- Friday back.

So I guess my question is will I be able to fit what I'm looking for with FedEx? If not any other suggestions?

Didn't know that was a thing. I really need a W2 job though, is something like that usually 1099?

the only requirement that FedEx has, is that you crash or roll over a set of doubles.

so i say go for it, they'll hire you, on the short term, since they will fire you, or promote you into thier accounting office.

What very little I know about FedEx is that the runs are bid out to Contractors, think trucking company, and those Contractors hire independent contractor drivers (1099) or employee drivers W-2. I think it will be difficult to find the Contractor that controls specific routes. I suppose FedEx Terminal Manager, whatever his actual title, could get you connected to the Contractors that "own" various routes operating to/from that facility.

Contractors aren’t allowed to pay drivers on 1099. They have to have W2 employees.

You’d have to search out contractors in your area and see what runs they have available. Then you’d run team and hopefully get along with your teammate. As far as weekends off, I’m sure some runs work out that way but a lot of them run over the weekend with days off early in the week. Anything that runs solo would be an out and back run from the same terminal.
