When you get the confirmation from tsa that the application was approved, is there a time frame in which you have to get the endorsment? A friend of mine asked me this ?

    Thank You.

My TSA approval letter was only valid for 6 months (to get your HazMat endorsement).
After that, everything is valid for 4 years, until your drivers license needs renewal.
Then you must submit another Hazmat TSA approval, as in the beginning.

In WI, you have to pass the test first, then submit the background inspection. When the letter comes you have the endorsement. Its good for 4 years.

They will send you a letter giving you the confirmation you have been approved. But you don't have to wait for that letter in order to go to the DMV to get your endorsement, because that letter take forever to come. Now, after about 10 days that you had done all the finger prints and stuff, give a call to the TSA/Hasmat phone number, the automated phone will tel if you have been approved. Then you can go straight to the DMV and get your endorsement, TSA will inform them electronically about your approval.

I hope this helped a little bit.

Geez,I could totally remember but in Missouri it seems like you had 60 days to get the endorsement put on your license. Mo cdl was good for 8 years, however the hazmat endorsement was only valid for 2 years then you had to renew. Seems like when you renewed(you didnt have to pay for the fingerprinting again but you had to do another background check to verify you were still qualified and it seemed like you had to take the written again? 35 bucks to get whole new license with picture(to get the endorsement on there. Whole process the first and renewed time took about 10-14 days. Think each state varies wish I knew about South Dakota.

Not sure how long the approval stays go for as I've always needed my Haz Mat so I didn't mess around with waiting to re-new. In Ohio, they will not even let you take the test until you give them your approval letter. My first approval letter came back in less than two weeks, the renewal approvals have always taken a week or less.

In Ohio you have to get the endorsement within 90 days of receiving approval letter, then you have to do it all over again 4 years later, expires on your birthday.

In florida the hazmat endorsement is good for 4 years....the process is, you go into take the test, do fingerpirnts, tsa check. On approval of all of that they send you your endorsed license in the mail.

Well, I forgot to say but in Georgia the Hasmat expires on the day your licence does, which is five years.
