I don't have a hazmat endorsement and have a cdl B. I am looking at a job online and it says
"Retrieve hazardous waste containers for disposal." This is at a university. for on campus delivery.

Candidate must have a commercial driver’s license Class B ..... nothing on hazmat endorsement. From what I see it may take up to a month here in NY State to go through a background check. .
How do I handle this. In todays job market a month from now I fear will be too late. . Am I SOL at this time.

sounds to me like you'd just be picking up the containers, not hauling the hazardous waste. and i'm sure they would state it if you need a Hazmat endorsement

not even sure if you can get a hazmat with a class b

If you like the job prospect, go for it and see what happens. If trucking is without a doubt in your long-term future, go ahead and start the haz-mat endorsement anyway, ASAP because employers who need haz-mat drivers, need them "now", now when you can get around to it.

A hazardous waste container can be as simple as them little needle disposers you see at hospitals. Like dp says being a class B it probably isn't even a reportable quantity.

If they go to the trouble to tell you that you need a Class B it seems like they would tell you that you need hazmat if it was needed.

Don't be afraid of rejection, APPLY! Rejection is just part of the game. Don't let it hurt your feelings. :biggrin_2553::biggrin_2559:

it takes 30 days at LEAST to get your hazmat endorsement.

so yeah, YOUR SOL. unless it takes them that long to hire someone.

but like others have stated. DON'T DELAY. or probably wait till it's time to renew your license. cuz i get the luxury of renewing my hazmat 2 years after i renewed my license. although the testing portion is already done. i just have to do the background check i guess.

otherwise, i guess my hazmat endorsement will be taken away from my license.
