    Hi all,
I am new to this forum but have already learned a lot.

I have a question about hauling heavy machines: If I'm hauling an 80,000 machine, can I use 4 directs and supply the rest of the restraint with indirect tiedowns?

    Example: 40,000lbs-22,600lbs (4 direct takedowns with 1/2 chains)= 17,400lbs

    17,400/11,300 = (2 indirect takedowns)

So using 1/2 chains, can I can get away with 6 chains and 10 binders or do I need more than 4 direct tiedowns?

4 pulling back, 2 pulling forwards, all direct securement. Toss something over the attachment if you have one. Roll.

I'd do 6 pulling back, 4 pulling forwards. But I don't like talking to DOT.
