Hey guys, I work in the rock hauling business and I'm like the only local driver in our fleet that uses this app who falls under the short-haul exemption. Well, I think there's one other of our drivers that does but he does long-haul OTR stuff but anyways, MD help support wasn't very helpful on this subject so what's the procedure for whenever you have to change trucks during your shift? I've been using this app for quite sometime now and yes, Ive had to change trucks before but it was for the whole day and wasn't an issue but surprisingly enough, only one time here recently did I have to change trucks mid shift. Is there a proper way to do this? MD support said I have to get with my driver manager to log out of my current truck and then log into the other one but we're not set up that way where all the trucks have ELD equipment in them due to us just making sure that on the trucks that are newer than 2000 model year, we dont go outside our 150 mile radius more than 8 times in a 30 day period so I only use the app so that I dont have to use the paper short haul exemption logbook which is a pain in my opinion. Thoughts?

If you click that button, it brings up a menu with "leave truck" as an option.... does that work? I've never tried it

Just leave original truck and connect to new. I've done it multiple times. Only real challenge is that when someone else drives one of the trucks you have left and doesn't "connect" I've had motive try to "edit" or ask about "unidentified trips" that the other driver did in a truck I was previously in. So you'll have to do a lot of rejections. Other than that it's smooth

Yeah I don’t have that option on mine and I guess my assumption of why is correct because being that I run primarily under the short-haul exemption and regularly stay within my 150-mile radius, I don’t use this ELD app because I have to, I just run it because I want to because it’s so much better for what I do so I don’t have the app Bluetoothed through my phone to that gadget that plugs into the truck so I’m not logged into any of our equipment in the general sense like yall are who are required to run ELD’s.

The local guys with an assigned truck do not have ELDs installed, if I get one of them, I use the app, just have to mark the drive portions manually and remember to stop them.] That includes yard move and personal use. I have to mark an odometer starting point to start this with a different truck. And all odometer entries are also manually input.

Yeah see all I did was just noted in my graph remarks my pre and post trips for both trucks and even though it showed a truck number where it’s circled in the screen shot, I just wrote the beginning and ending odometers of both trucks down below that with the first truck I drove first on top in the first entry and the second truck I drove below that.
I hope that was the right thing to do…lol. IMG_1130.jpeg
