Recently I was looking to upgrade the hp on my cummins isx 400, so I found a mechanic to do it and he upgraded my ecm signature software from 400hp 1450 torque. to 450hp 1650lb torque, This is my transmission FR14210B, I just want to make sure im safe with this upgrade please any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Your transmission is rated in the 1400 range (FR14210B) but if you use your new found power responsibly, it shouldn’t be an issue. The original clutch would be rated the same, if it’s still original, it should protect the transmission... again if you use it responsibly!!!

no clutch was replaced when I bought the truck. Should I go back to the shop and have them reverse the upgrade just to be safe?

No, shouldn’t be needed, and you didn’t move up that much. Just try not to use all the torque (or the accelerator pedal) till the truck is moving. It’s ok to use in most all situations. The things that might get you in trouble with torque haven’t changed, they’ll just be slightly more pronounced now... like dumping the clutch in a high gear or in “spinout and grab” situations. The things that’ll hurt even a “to spec” drivetrain. Under normal highway use conditions, you won’t see a change other than what your looking for.

The increase in torque will also increase the transmission oil temperature. Make sure youre trans temp gauge is accurate and check it often especially on long grades with a lot of weight. Some of the eaton transmissions increase the torque rating with a more effective cooler.

I Don't know where this transmission has the oil cooler, the two hoses that run to radiator are disconnected to the side and tranny does not have the holes for these hoses, do you know how this transmission cools???

You guys are over thinking things.

Your fine with your little up rate. Your trans isn't going to melt down. Just drive it. You wont notice much if any diffrence in temps.
