Question about Long Island

    I am taking a load to Long Island, 'Far Rockaway', south of JFK and was wandering if anybody would know about the low clearance at the I678 and the southern belt pkwy intersection. The DOT website I was on showed a low clearance of 11'8 there but I couldn't figure out if it was on the I678 which is the road I want. My motor carrier atlas does not show any low clearances on 678 but was just curious if any of you guys would know anything about it, any info would be helpful. thanks

    I goto JFK almost daily and I know 678 is clear all way to the airport for 13'6, not sure about past the airport but I thought 678 ends at JFK

    Yup it is posted nb just south of whitestone bridge. By the time you see it, it is too late to stop. You will clear. What is more fun is the 278beginning eb at mp 27 there is a warning sign that says alll trucks over 12' 2" must exit. So we did the first time ended up heading south on flatbush ave to the big egg shaped traffic circle. We now go thru after asking local drivers that we trusted. There are some overhangs and side protrusions that you need to watch. Great view of the State of Liberty at night. We just figure that New Yorkers are as bad at figuring overpass clearance as they are at patching roads. Secure vigorously!

    Yes the 678 does end at the airport but I will be turning right before on Nassau Expwy to go on south. I really appreciate the info, I will be going in early tomorrow morning for only the second time and am really nervous about it but I'll see what happens. Thanks again!

    Probably pu at the warehouse facility pat mcdonalds. On lefthand side. Gotta pull in multi biz. Get in early and grab dock.

    Uh, yeah but there's a little strip of land down there that I'm going to. Right off of beach channel drive.
