What company is it? 2 1/2 days may be enough clothing if you're doing quick mid-west/southwest turns. Just depends on the type of runs you have.

    pattyj and deann Thank this.

Probably would be a good idea to take some extra socks and underwear just in case.
Best wishes with your new job.

I tried to look at their website, out of curosity, but can't get it to open.

I think any time you go to orientation it is best to be over prepared.... ie. be ready to immediately hit the road once orientation is finished. Another thing that you should consider is that while a company may pay for your transportation and hotel to orientation... and they may furnish lunch... you will need to eat on your own time. If you want to keep your personal costs down I would strongly recommend that you bring your own food. Having just gone through an orientation I was amazed how many showed up with minimal money and no food, standing in front of vending machines with a hungry look in their eyes and mentally deciding whether or not to buy that nasty tuna sandwich for $5....

    .... don't be that guy.

AMX (Alabama Motor Express) merged with Southern Cal some years back. Now, not sure if this is the same company OP is talking about. It's just as easy to bring a weeks worth of clothing as it is a few days. This is trucking...........anything can and will happen.

If its possible, most companies will usually try to get you by the house (though it may only be for a few hours) once you are done orientation and are issued your truck. This way you can get all your stuff and set up your truck the way you need to. It may not be immediately but usually within the first week or so they will try to get you by the house.

Hope everything works out well for you. I really give you props for thinking outside the box and finding a good smaller company to drive for instead of just following the herd to a mega-carrier! I think your chances of success will be substantially higher at this company and you will notice a big difference in the way things are done and the way you are treated.

Good luck man, keep us posted...

Take a weeks worth!!! 2 1/2 days? you will spend that much time at Orientation. What if they give you an empty trl out of the yard to pick up at a shipper taking you home but before you get home you must deliver. Who knows what the plan will be but one thing is for sure, nothing ever go's as planned in trucking so bring extra!

Better take a weeks worth unless you plan on wearing the same clothes for a week, lol.Company will route you home to get your stuff but hard telling when that is.Maybe you can meet your dispatcher during orientation and ask him to route you home. But then again you're just a hop skip and jump from the company. So you may get routed home during your first load.
