Ok, so I've been looking around here for the last day or so. I'm gonna probably start school for driving in the next month or so here in Southern California.
My question is: Are there any good companies to drive for? Seems all the companies I've looked at are raked over the coals by a lot of people here...so if there are any good companies, please let me know! I've even looked in the "good companies" area and most of them have a lot of people complaining about them....
This is a new career change for me and I'm trying to learn all I can here, so thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to the forum.
No matter what company you pick, there will be people that love the company, people that are just OK and people that hate the company. It is an imperfect world and you cannot please everyone.
Just look at the comments with open eyes. Not everything you hear and read are the truth.
Some guys do stupid stuff and then bad mouth the company because there were consequences. Sometimes the company just sucks.
If you have a good attitude and a good dispatcher, you should be OK.
Good luck!tscottme Thanks this. -
Also keep in mind people are a lot quicker to bad mouth a company then they are to sing it's praises. So you can figure something like for every guy on here that had a bad experience with say ABC Trucking there are probably 5 who had good-ok experiences with them.

Try thinking of a trucking job as if you were joining the Military. Once you're hired, you are committed, period. No turning back. You have boot camp (orientation, training) then a new lifestyle to deal with. Forget about home time/family/friends/kids/weekends off/holidays/your EZ chair/sleeping in etc. When you have a problem, deal with management in an adult manner. But, for the most part, just accept what they throw at you and do your part to follow through. Do not be quick to jump ship at every little inconvience.

Some people will complain about gold being heavy if you gave them a bag of gold coins.

Hedon your response just summed up everything that people say about almost every company (they were good before.....) I like that response and i notice a lot of people do make those comments "i never worked there but i was told....." I think what i haved learned in my life is that work sucks sometimes almost no matter what you do. All you can do is like others said have a positive attitude and it sucks less basically.

Or as they say in the westerns; "You'd complain if you was hung with a new rope".
Every company has pluses or minuses. Starting out with each one is a beach. Bear in mind that you'll be adjusting your lifestyle to them and their main aim is moving the maximum amount of freight for the most profit. You're expected to be mature enough to look after your own personal problems. Too many people these days confuse their employer with their mommy and daddy.Warpdrvr Thanks this.
