well there are many reason's why a person gets booted during orientation.....lied on their application about accidents etc...really really really screw up during training....and it's usually after you complete training that they get rid of you.....they love to use the trainee as cheap labor out there on the road.......as long as you're app is accurate and you do well in training you should have a job

East coast. In short the answer is NO. Pre-hires are not a guarantee to hire you.
They mean that you fit their requirements, and if all else works out they might hire you.
Like Nick said, there are thousands of ways to get booted from training. The biggest is perceived lying on the application. In other words, they didn't check all the info until you got there. Then, they checked you out.

    rocknroll nik Thanks this.

Yup... a pre-hire is just a quick look at your background. Consider it an invitation only.

Once you get to orientation, the real sifting through your background begins. Among other things folks get sent home for MVR problems, health issues, drug test failures, differences between what is in your background vs what you put down on the application.

Be brutally honest about what is in your life, and you should be okay.

Then here's a suggestion. Start looking around at carriers, and make some inquiries about how long after that DUI it will be before they consider hiring you. Do that before you spend any money on a school - not all of the driving school operators are above board on this. Some would take your money knowing that you would still be unhireable.

even being "invited" to attend orientation is no guaranty to get the job.

I was scheduled with one company and they saw my driving record which was erroneous! The court screwed up. They had an unpaid ticket on my record. I had it cleared up. They still wouldn't touch me, I was 1 week from orientation. I still had Swift on the line and went with them.

Then Swift saw I had 2 licenses! I had to clear that up before getting a date. Florida maintains your regular license 18 months after it expires. I had surrendered it to TN. I didn't have the proof as I didn't know I was going to go get a CDL after not driving for many years.
