I'm sorry if this has been asked, but I couldn't find a specific answer.
Do the E-Logs have a ticker that shows how many hours you have left on your 11, 14, and 70 or is it up to the driver to figure it out?
How do time-zone changes factor in with hours available and appointment times?
Please note: I have never seen a Qualcolm before.
Thanks!

I've never actually dealt with the e-logs, but I do know that, on ours, if a driver stays logged in, when we shut it off after pulling it into the shop, it'll display how much driving time is remaining for the driver logged in.

The Qualcomm keeps track of 8 11 14 34 70 and the 168 hours on the 34 restart. It has a big display and counts down all day as you drive. So you can look at it any time and see how many hours you have.
traveljunkie94 Thanks this. -
Go to YouTube and look for MCP50 that Qualcomm's newest one it is all touch screen. Some have keyboards and more options, but the MPC 50 is the newest and basic system. The system run works off cell phone signal. Qualcomm has bigger and older systems that run off satellites lots of companies still have that system.

I have Qualcomm elogs. It does display how much drive time you have remaining. It will display in the top right corner whichever of your clocks (8,11,14,70) is the lowest. For example, say you just got off a 34 restart and you have a full 11,14, & 70, when your day starts it will display that you have 8 hours of drive time (because that's all you can drive without a 30 minute brk). If you drive 6 hours and then take a 30, it will then display that you have 5 hrs of drive time. And on the other hand, say it's the end of the week and you only have 4 hours left on your 70, when you start your day after a 10 hr break it will display that you 4 hours of drive time. It keeps track of all your clocks and displays what you have accordingly and will automatically adjust it after breaks.
time zones do not factor into your clock because logs are always kept on the time zone of your home terminal. As far as time zones affecting appointment times, that's on you to keep track of. At my company, when they send me a load assignment, the appointment times given are for local time. Say my load assn. says I pick up at 8 am in Nashville and deliver at 6 PM in Atlanta, the pickup would be at 8 am central time and the delivery would be at 6 PM eastern time. It is my responsibility to know which time zone each location is in and plan my trip accordingly.
hope this helps. If you have any other specific questions, I will try to clarify for youtraveljunkie94, LoneCowboy, briarhopper and 3 others Thank this. -
The time zone is set by your company, so traveling thru time zones has no effect on your hours of service

Qualcomm units I have worked with tick down on all clocks. You can see them in the Summary screen most easily on the older units. Time zone shouldn't affect you since QC is supposed to be locked to whichever time zone your home terminal is located. If you get an appointment time over QC, it will likely be listed in terminal time as well, but your company might do things differently. My times have always been terminal time. You need to take the time zone you are in into your trip planning so that you get your time stamps all happy and on time.

thats if you sign on with a company that uses e logs.. otherwise its paper -

where I work (and it seems this is the norm), appt times on the load screen are all LOCAL times. And the arrival/departure times are ALL supposed to be put in using home terminal time. (Log book time, whatever time zone your home terminal uses)
