Sorry for the ignorance, but...
As a new student developing a list of potential employers I want to find companies that operate nationally and do a significant share of their business hauling long distances, like coast-to-coast. I'm not very interested in driving only in 10-12 states or seeing the same docks over and over.
However, I also (think) that I want a company that has a primarily reefer fleet because, by most accounts, the available miles are better.
Are these two goals incompatible? Are reefers frequently used for criss-crossing the nation or are they primarily used for regional or short-range jobs?
Can anyone recommend a company that tends to match that profile?
Thanks!

You want to make money? Run as a team for a refer company. a good team can run 7000 a week.

Yup... we haul produce and meat east, and whatever we can get in the reefer on the way back. Do yourself a favor and get a hazmat endorsement.

Hey there Candun -
The nice thing about reefer is that you can haul dry loads as well if a reef load is not available. There is not a lot to it, other than being diligent to make sure it doesnt shut down on you.
I agree with Iron Pony.l..... get your HazMat. It is not too hard to get and if you study, you'll do fine.
I see you live in Raleigh too. If you want to get together, gimme a shout. I'll do what I can to point you in the right directions.
As far as "the company" that fits your needs.... you need to come up with a lot more specifics..... There are many variables -
Reefers are ok I pernsonally don't like to run them, but i've done that got the t-shirt
I couldn't sleep with it running wasn't my cup of tea
BTW go get your HazMat it is a plus with most companies
