I am fairly experienced and will refuse some loads, especially those in NYC and places where 53 footers should never go.

I direct you to the post I made today at 9:38am. The incident is old news. And that is how it's gonna stay. And just for your information, I have less than three months of experience. So don't give me that crap about being an experienced driver yet. Experience comes with time and I haven't been driving that long. Hell, I only been on my own since May 4th. And with my trainer only two and a half weeks. Also, this was my first solo trip into the Northeast.

For all the others that say anything else negative about it. Don't even bother doing so. I have gotten myself together and ain't letting it bother me. Again, as I said earlier, it is old news and that is how it's gonna stay. What happens as a result is what happens. I will just deal with it the best way that I can. So, in the end, I learned something very valuable and that's all I needed. So quit your dang bellyaching when someone complains or vents over something. y'all claim to take an interest in helping new drivers. Some of you really do take an interest in doing so. However, just as many of you do more harm than good when you shoot someone down and belittle them for making an honest error of judgement. You act like they dropped an atomic bomb on your house. My honest opinion on it is that the truck driver shortage is not just caused by unscrupulous and greedy companies or severe government regulation. It is also caused by drivers such as those who don't give a flying crap about anyone but themselves and will talk crap to those who make mistakes, especially newbies. I'm doing what I can to make the best of it and that is all I can do. My question to those who treat everyone like crap is this. What are you gonna do when something happens to you? You might say something like it won't happen but you can never ever EVER guarantee that. Anyway, sorry for this long reply.

Only real way to learn how to ride a bike is to get on it and ride it

The fact you probably almost took a bridge down in nj is a lesson learned

Couldn’t imagine them sending you to the Bronx the whole city would have probably shut down

It probably would for even a cat getting run over. I have been through the Bronx on I95 and traffic ain't that bad. Just paying attention to my surroundings and laughing my butt off at the idiots.

Just out of curiosity can we get an address, google maps link, etc to the intersection where this pole was?

My honest feeling is you've probably had some not so great training. This isn't your fault. Mediocre training doesn't help anyone become a great driver. Like I said, you're the one in the 70ft long, 80k lbs vehicle that doesnt maneuver very well. Don't worry about people in regular vehicles bully you into getting out of their way. If you need to take a wide turn to miss a curb or pole, take up that extra space and make them move, and they will. Infact I have people attempt to back up when there's no need.

I'll help any driver who needs it because this is our industry and we need to help each other because no one else will.

Im assuming you drive for a large co that you're probably no more than a # to. Take the time in that truck to make yourself a better driver so you can move on to better.
