I find it funny that no new drivers or experienced ones ever rubbed anything, yet I can walk through any truckstop looking at ALL the rippled rubrails on vans and reefers. I am talking the percentage is up there.
I also find it funny that everybody chastises him for counting on the gps, have never used one myself, don't even know how they work, but I do know that maps don't tell you how tight city turns are or which ones has a pole right on the shoulder, I have also many time gotten directions direct from a shipper or reciever that just wouldnot work at all.
I even got a recorded set of intentionally false directions, when a union shopwas closing down and we were picking up the equipment to take it to a different state.
So have a plan is not the all time answer either.

I Have also made it over 40 years with out delivering or picking up in the city, drove through plenty, but refused to deliver or pickup. That is just me, and I have in every other major city in the US, just refused NYC. Anybody I have mostly driven my own truck, picked my own loads, so it was never a problem, but any job I ever had for someone else we got it straight before hand, they needed me, I did not have to have them, that is just a fact of life, or they would not pay you..
I do not know the op from adam, but nothing I have read is anything that I can tell thhat with some experience under his belt, he may be a true professional in time, Heck these days if he actually gets dressed in the mornings, he is a step ahead of lots of people. lol

Well, thank you. At least someone has some faith in me. And yes I do get dressed in the morning. What good would it do to drive the truck butt ### naked and get a ticket for indecent exposure? :D:cool:

I actually have never heard of anyone driving a truck naked, but some have driven in their underwear, I know for sure.
But that is not what I am talking about either. lol

Lol. I know what you were talking about. I was just being funny. I would rather die than not be doing something. I will work my butt off to make sure my nieces are happy. They are the only thing I have that is close to having my own kids as I can get. They are my little shining stars and they are what keeps me going. I love them and will work myself to death for them.

Why Detroit? It’s a royal pisshole but I used to go there pretty regularly and never had an issue with any shipper or receiver. Thought it was a pretty easy city to navigate compared to a lot of others. Not a fan of the 60 mph speed limit or the jacked-up Michigan highways but I preferred Detroit over places like Pittsburgh any day of the week. Just curious...

Nah. I did some of the worst parts of Philly and Chicago. Our yard was in South Holland.
