I currently have a load going from Tennessee to California that is 10’ wide and was wondering if I need beacon lights if I will be driving during daylight hours. I’ve looked it up online and can’t seem to find a for sure answer on this.

Read your permits. You have permits right?

All the information you need is on them.. some might require beacons others may not, you will have curfews thru metro areas, some states may allow you to run at night some may not.

Yes I do have permits, I have read them but non of them said anything about beacon lights during daylight hours so I was doubtful. So I’m guessing it’s not required at least in the states that I’m traveling though to have them during daylight hours. Thankyou for your reply :)

I ran oversize in Arkansas. At that time they didn’t require beacons, just flags on the corners and oversize load banners on front and back. Definitely couldn’t run at nights, which you aren’t anyway.

I’m hoping they still don’t require them , with the research I’ve done it looks like they don’t. Hopefully they don’t :) thankyou for your reply

If it doesnt say anything then its probably not needed. But sometimes they will stick a regulation in there where u have to look it up online... For example we do alot of overlength loads to the northwest. My washington permit says every oversize load must have banners, but they also list a regulation on the permit that says for overlength only up to a certain amount you dont need banners..and it will be listed as something like WA-197.3 - abc...
I know my arizona permits doesnt list any lighting requirements on the permit itself but will list it the same way as previously mentioned... Then u got to go look up the regulation online for it... The best way to do that is go directly to the state site that ends in .gov .. stay away from the spammy heavy haul generic google searches, lots of bad info on there..

Heres an example of what i mean .. check your permits for stuff like this it can get u in trouble if u overlook it. And all the info u need will be there.

At 10 wide, flags and banners should be all you need for daylight running.

    this your first oversized load?
