except for the gators. they are everywhere in east Texas in just about every body of water. they are just about everywhere in "fresh" water that is close to the gulf in FL, GA, AL, MS, LA, and TX.
As far as snakes go in TX if you stay away from "wild" areas and long grass and pay attention walking on sidewalks and pavement you will be fine. If you happen to see a snake give it room to leave and it usually will.
I ran western Canada to TX off and on for 30 years as well as a summer of custom combining as a young man and I can count on one hand the times I saw a snake and using common sense and watching where I was going I was never in danger from them.

I lived in the Hobbs, NM area for about six years. Hauling crude oil I would see a rattle at least once a week during summer months. Used to carry a shovel with a sharpened edge to decapitate a snake. A dead snake is a decapitated one.

Never saw one living in Forth Worth over 16 years . Just in case can I hold off one with 9mm ? Y’all seem to be either holding a 12 ga or run them over with a truck
