Are truck stops open to the public or is it only for trucks? I've never been to a truck stop so i don't know. Reason i ask is i'm driving to orientation roughly 1000 miles away in my personal chevy tahoe can i park there and catch some zzz's?

Now a days they aren't really called truck stops, they are considered travel stops catering to all -

You'll wish they weren't open to the public when after you're done fueling, and you want to run in to buy something really quick, a tour bus or a school bus has just unloaded and there''s 50 people waiting in line.

Just to add I would try and avoid Pilot and Loves as they have smaller car parking areas... Try Flying J, TA, or Petros... Flying J would be my first choice as they have RV parking at a lot of them separate from the truck area and it seems you get a lot of 4 wheelers camping out... @DriverToBroker I think camped out in his car on the way to Florida, maybe he can share how it went for him.

Swift runs into enough trucks, it would be a disaster if cars parked near the trucks, they would flatten cars left and rightFireFighter_02, stevep1977, tow614 and 3 others Thank this. -

You should be able to get a decent night's sleep in the car area. Not too much happening on that side of the lot at night. Until the expediters come looking for parking after midnight of course.

Why would you go anywhere near a truck stop in a car?
Longarm, Lepton1 and bigkev1115 Thank this.
