Who usually pays for the TWIC Card, the driver or the company?

Most likely the driver at a training company . They have too much of a turnover to be paying TWICs for temp drivers . Same with hazmat checks , passports , etc .

If you don't have a TWIC card don't worry about it, the "company" will gladly pay the $50.00 (usual rate) for an "escort".

Schneider will pay for your hazmat fingerprinting but not the TWIC. If you already have the hazmat prints done, you can get the TWIC for a discounted price, about $85 instead of $135 if I remember right. It would seem crazy for a company to pay $50 for an escort when they would be dollars ahead after the second escort if they had paid for the TWIC instead.:biggrin_25523:

I had been lead to believe that the ports weren't doing that any more. No TWIC, no access was what was explained to me.

I don't have a TWIC card and pull loads out the port of Delaware all the time (Chiquita, etc) my company reimburses me the $50.00 I pay for an escort, I have also brought paper to Savannah GA, same thing there.

When you get back haul loads, the small cost of $50.00 is a pittance compared to finding a better load.

If your hauling a back haul the "company" doesn't always know where and when you will get it, if you can get a load on the "port" $50.00 is hardly a deal breaker, either pay the $ or deadhead, ask any OO.
