I did cancel loads twice due to weather and unsafe conditions. When I do that I just say the truck has broken down. Nobody will prove anything. And every contract can't enforce you to go when your truck is out of service. That's the law. They need to abide by. You aren't charged anything. They don't give a #### if you make it safe or not.
BUT. There is always BUT. With contracted loads, I do feel like a driver. I shouldn't. But I do feel my obligation to deliver.
And tomorrow is one of those days I'm debating if I should pick up the load. I did have to cancel one load last week with the same shipper since something did come out I needed to fix right away. I lost one day of work.
I feel bad now to cancel the following week as well. Maybe, life happens so I leave the shipper. Who knows. But it's BAD luck.
I'll see how the morning goes. But school closed tomorrow. My son is staying home. It's making me uneasy to decide.
Now, it's raining. But then by morning it will be freezing. The black ice is worse than snow. Come morning it will be snowing. High winds as well...Last edited: Feb 17, 2022

You're not less of a driver/man/animal/mineral/modern major general simply because you don't carry the desire to drive in crappy weather. It's all about personal risk assessment, and if you don't think it's worth- it's not.God prefers Diesels and Keepforgettingmypassword Thank this. -
