14 hour day is what's allowed, not what's required.
Don't listen to the other students; they're students, not experienced truckers.

Lol how many times have you seen some driver pass you two or three times a day yet get on the radio and complain your to slow and they gotta gooooo...Usually its cause they stop at every 2nd trk stop for a gallon of coffe, show off their truck and flirt with their fav waitress then a few more stops to water their tires....

OP drive what ya wanna to make it from point a-b in the alotted time while staying legal..

From the time you wake up and the time you go to sleep, you are married to your truck and the job it requires. This includes driving it, fueling it, loading/un-loading it, shining the rims with polish, staring thru the windshield, texting your bossman for instructions, inspecting it, everything ! Some days are easy-peasy, just drive 600 mi. Other days ? Drive 600 mi, unload, fuel, get flat tire repaired, argue with dispatch, flirt with waitress at lunch counter, wait in shower line for 45 min, spend 30 trying to park at your favorite Loves, (the one with 25 spots and fuel line is backed up onto the off ramp) and on and on. My point ? It all evens out, right ? Now have fun out there !

I good quality company does not FORCE you to max out every single minute of your hours of service. Just work no more than 8 to 9 hours a day and you will be good.

It also depends on YOU and what you want to do. I don’t like to max out my Dailey hours then be home 1 or 2 days a week. I like staying out as long as possible without going home and I enjoy working everyday so I try not to go over 8.75 hours a day that way I don’t have to take a 34 hour reset very often.
