Hello,
I currently have a valid class A CDL in TX. I want to get my X endorsement and would like to know know if I have to retake any other knowledge tests other than tanker & hazmat.

Shouldn't need to. Don't know for certain about Texas, but in WI you just take the written tests for the stuff you are adding (road test if applicable). I was looking at adding my passenger endorsement a few years ago, and didn't have to take the tests for everything.

T&X are for hazmat/tanker/doubles-triples (at least, in my state).
you would need to take the written tests only for what ever endorsements you want. -

Not sure how it is there, but in NV I had to have my background check and fingerprints done before the DMV would even let me take the hazmat test.

In CA you have to take all the tests over if its been over a year after renewal, however you can take all the tests before finger print and background, however they won't send the new lic till you do,I just did mine and had to take eight tests to "Get er done"
